How to take this test
| 1. |
Use the same eye chart you used for the first test. If you wore glasses for Test 1, leave them on for this test. Again sit exactly ten feet from the wall. |
| 2. |
Using a 2 - 3 inch square piece of paper, punch a 1/16 inch hole near one corner. Look
through one of the pinholes with your right eye. |
| 3. |
As you did in the first test, read the eye chart. Start at the top. Continue reading until you
have read all letters correctly or until you can no longer see the letters clearly. |
Recording the results
Find the number next to the last line of letters you were able to read correctly, as you did in Test 1. Write down your score. Now test your left eye using the same procedure. Record the results for the left eye.
What the pinhole screening means
If you were able to read the 20/40 line with each eye you may need only your eyeglass prescription changed. If you don't normally wear glasses, you may need them.
If you could not read the 20/40 line you should make an immediate appointment with an eye doctor. When calling for an appointment, describe the test and any difficulties you are having with your vision.
